| "I work at home. My office window opens onto a jumbled intimacy of back balconies, back yards and back alleyways. Daily my dog and I walk through this interior city sniffing for stories. Poetry is not hard to find between these long longs of peeling paint fences spray painted with bright abstractions and draped with trailing vines. I have tried to present Entre Ville in the vernacular of my neighbourhood, where cooking smells and noisy neighbours crisscross the alleyway one sentence at at time." J. R. Carpenter, 2006. |
