Description
On nearly every computer screen you can see so called "icons".
The 32x32 pixel format is used as a basis for PIXLED. PIXLED consists of 32x32 led´s - 1024 all together. This simple system provides numerous possibilities to depict various motives.

PIXLED static - PIXLED dynamic.

A computer icon is a sign and orientation help. it enables the user to utilize and find his way around the graphic interface of the respective system.

PIXLED takes the icon out of the medium computer and shows it in a different environment. During the working process, initially static pictures were created, the 32x32 pixel grid being the formal ground work. Various 32x32 pictures were - and are - stitched with needle and thread, set as a mosaic or printed on t-shirts.

After further development, the light object PIXLED was created. It differs from the initially designed static objects. Life is given to PIXLED through the wire connection with the PC. PIXLED can only work if it is reconnected to its origin - the PC it was taken from.

Via the PC, you can then upload various motives in PIXLED. The user can choose motives from this website or create new ones himself. A set of motives, consisting of three pictures can be uploaded. Therefore, PIXLED is dynamic.

The static nature of the traditional painting is shattered by the possibility to transfer motives. The owner of PIXLED determines the content and the "duration" of the pictures he chooses to view.
