Description
Iconica is an artificial world made of language. The interactive>installation blends artificial life and semiotics in a virtual world that mutates and
>evolves. The lifeforms communicate in this world using an iconic language, which is included here. In the installation, icons may be combined using a simple grammar to create more complex meanings. Visitors to the world also use this language to communicate with the lifeforms. This index documents the language and its use.
Bio:
Innocent has been exploring new aesthetics enabled by computers
since 1989 through the construction of artificial worlds that explore
the 'language of computers'. In his work, Innocent explores the dynamic
between the iconic ideal and the personal specific, the real and the simulated,
and the way in which our identity is shaped by our language and communication.
